Renee Ruggero has been cruising since 1999, first as a crewmember and today as a passenger. Her travels have taken her to every continent and over 50 countries, yet one of her favorite places to be is at home, in Canada.

Although no longer working at sea, Renee still cruises at least 60 days per year with her husband who is an officer on a cruise ship. She's learned to balance a writing career with travelling and raising her twin daughters (who have more than 40 cruises under their belt and they’re only seven years old).

She has cruised extensively in Alaska, the Mexican Riviera and the Caribbean and shares her knowledege through her cruise port profiles. Some of those include Cabo San Lucas (Mexico), Cozumel (Mexico), Fort Lauderdale, Labadee (Haiti), Miami, New York, Port Canaveral, Samana (Dominican Rebublic), Seattle, Seward (Alaska), Vancouver (Canada), and Whittier (Alaska).

Renee has also cruised in South America, the Mediterranean and Northern Europe including the UK, Baltics, Iceland and Greenland. For Suite101.com she has written about the following European ports.

Renee has been awarded 13 Editor's Choice awards since she started writing for Suite101 back in February 2009. Here is the list of those award-winning articles.

Renee's other work has been published in the Daily Mail (UK), Arthur Frommer’s Budget Travel, Porthole Cruise Magazine, Porthole Insider, Cruise Travel Magazine, CruiseCritic.com, WorkOnCruiseShips.com, TravelMuse.com, TheTravelEditor.com and CruiseMates.com. She's also a member of TMAC (Travel Media Association of Canada).
