Starting in January 2011, Disney Cruise Line will offer cruises to the Mexican Riviera out of the embarkation port of Los Angeles at San Pedro. A variety of Mexican Riviera cruises on the Disney Wonder will visit the ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. Here is what to expect from a Disney cruise to Mexico.
Disney Cruise Line’s Embarkation Port
The Disney Wonder will reposition from its Port Canaveral base to San Pedro (Los Angeles), and offer her first Mexican Riviera cruise on January 23, 2011. The Disney Wonder will continue to cruise from Los Angeles until she repositions to Vancouver in late April 2011, for Disney’s Alaska cruises in the summer. The cruise ship will return to San Pedro in September 2011, offering additional Mexican Riviera cruises.
San Pedro is a convenient embarkation port for Disney Cruise Line because of its close proximity to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Anaheim is less than 30 miles away from the cruise port, making Disney land and sea packages more affordable for those that live closer to the west coast than to Florida.
Disney Wonder Cruise to Mexican Riviera
7-Night Mexican Riviera Cruise – Starting January 23, 2011, the Disney Wonder will depart San Pedro (Los Angeles) every Sunday. The seven-night cruises include the Mexican ports of Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas as well as three days at sea. Disney Wonder will cruise in Alaska for the summer of 2011, but she will return to the Mexican Riviera with her first fall cruise departing September 25, 2011.
10-Night Mexican Rivera Cruise – This ten-night cruise will only be offered during the extended week that includes the Easter holidays. The cruise departs on Sunday April 17, 2011 and returns on April 27th. Similar to the seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise, ports include Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas. This cruise also includes Manzanillo and five sea days.
Disney Christmas Cruise to Mexico
Disney Cruise Line will offer an eight-night Mexican Riviera cruise on the Disney Wonder over Christmas 2011. The cruise will depart Sunday, December 18, 2011 and will feature the ports of Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas. Christmas Day will be one of the three days spent at sea.
When the Disney Wonder concludes the ten-day Mexican Riviera cruise on April 27, 2011, she will reposition to Vancouver to offer Alaska cruises. The six-night repositioning cruise to Vancouver will include two days in San Francisco, a day in Victoria, Canada and two days at sea.
